Why Twinkles

Our Staff

Twinkles, knows how important your children are to you and that you need to be 100% sure they are being left with teachers who are trustworthy, well qualified and fun to be around. To achieve this, we have a strong focus on recruitment, performance management and training.  We also focus on ensuring that our staff are happy in their roles and work environment.

All of our teachers are qualified to a minimum of Level 4 Early Childhood Development and have prior experience and credentials. All of our staff also attend first aid training with regular refreshers. We encourage staff to attend further training and qualifications in Early Childhood Development and we sponsor such pursuits. The focus on our staff results in us having a happy, well trained and experienced team who have your children’s best interests at heart.

Our Facilities and Safety

Twinkles Playschool facilities are built to our custom specifications and equipped with high quality toys, learning aids and materials. We inspect the school at the end of each term and determine any changes or additions required. Our playgrounds are beautiful, safe and well equipped.

Our schools are fenced off securely and accessible only via a gate operated from a Video Intercom in the classroom. There are CCTV cameras in all of our classrooms and gardens which provide an extra layer of security and safety.

Each school has their own vegetable garden which the children and staff thoroughly enjoy tending throughout the year. Tending their gardens develop the children’s sense of responsibility, patience, engages all of their senses and is very rewarding. Our children take great pride in their playschool and can often be found on a Friday afternoon giving it a thorough spring-clean! Not only is this a fun activity but it is a great life lesson in caring for things and being responsible for our surroundings.

Connecting Generations

Twinkles Playschools are co-located within the grounds of retirement facilities. Co-locating playschools within retirement homes and villages enables Twinkles to introduce wonderful intergenerational activities and experiences into our children’s daily routine.

During intergenerational interactions, the children and the elderly residents get together for super fun activities that naturally build understanding, confidence and respect for each other. The children also receive visits from residents who read and tell stories, teach dance, or help with gardening and arts and crafts. Through these interactions children benefit from positive one-on-one attention from caring adults. The children also develop a sense of responsibility and empathy as they interact with those frailer than themselves. Exposure to age and disability in this positive, controlled manner has been shown to improve children’s self-confidence and ability to deal with issues should they or loved ones face them at a later point in life. In fact, according to research in the USA children, who engage in regular intergenerational interactions in their early development years are 11 months ahead of their peers emotionally and socially at school going age (https://stanncenter.org).

Our Families

Our playschools have a strong sense of family and we welcome parental and extended family involvement in the schools.

We value parent feedback and encourage parents to pro-actively share their ideas and give us open and honest feedback. We have an open-door policy and attend to all parent matters rapidly and professionally. We encourage parents in each Twinkles class to nominate a Class Representative, class reps are a valuable asset to parent body / playschool communications throughout the year. Our annual parent survey also ensures that we capture parent’s views and comments with all parent feedback being factored into our term planning and areas for improvement.

We ensure that every term includes an event which integrates the school with the children’s family, this ranges from mother’s day, father’s day, grandparents day, nannies day to family picnics and social get togethers. Our holiday clubs are open to siblings, friends and other relatives between the ages of 2 and 6 and it is always great fun for the children to have their friends and relatives at playschool with them at these times.

Our Management

Last but not least our schools are well managed in the front-line operations and as businesses. Twinkles Playschool is as a professional business managed by our founders who are passionate about running and developing something they feel passionate about. As founders, John and Louise work closely with all teaching staff and parents and believe that this visible active involvement helps make Twinkles Playschool a safe, consistent and differentiated environment.
